EAST RAND PROPRIETARY LIMITED MINES (ERPM)

Investment:

  • BIG is busy finalising the acquisition of an interest in ERPM, a 125-year-old underground gold mining operation on the Witwatersrand Basin in Boksburg, to the east of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Overview:

  • ERPM was the deepest mine in the world until 2008 (when it closed) at 3,585 metres in depth. Historical gold production between 1896 and 2008 was 43 Million Ounces (Moz) at recovered gold grade of 8.1g/t (95% plant recovery) - making it the most productive gold mine in history.

  • Our team identified unexploited assets down dip, in an unmined portion of the ore body. There is existing shaft and plant infrastructure in place to access the shallow underground resources which were historically below the economic cut-off grade.

Specifications:

  • Mineral: Gold

  • Net Present Value (NPV) of >USD 1billion

  • Size of resource: >50 Million Ounces (Moz)

  • Life of Mine (LOM): >50 years
